The Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) announced last month that three Venice, Florida-based companies and their owners have settled charges over deceptive marketing of dietary supplements. NextGen Nutritionals, Strictly Health, and Cyber Business Technology, alongside Anna McLean and Robert McLean, were accused of misleadingly promoting supplements claiming to prevent or treat various conditions like the common cold, high blood pressure, and serious diseases such as HIV/AIDS.
The FTC's complaint highlighted several products including BioMazing HCG, Hoodoba, Fucoidan Force, Immune Strong, and VascuVite. Allegations ranged from false weight loss claims for BioMazing HCG and Hoodoba, to unsubstantiated health benefits of Fucoidan Force and Immune Strong, and misleading assertions about VascuVite's ability to lower blood pressure.
